LAKELAND, Fla. – The final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings have been released with Florida Southern College women's tennis ranked No. 9, the highest final ranking for the Moccasins since 2007.
Â
The Moccasins had a great 2026 season, finishing with a 17-6 overall record, matching last year's feat. FSC finished just shy of an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament but shone in the regular season with a 6-3 record in the Sunshine State Conference, making an appearance in the third-place match against Nova Southeastern University. The six SSC wins in 2026 were the most by the Mocs since the 2019 season.
"This season has been incredible," said head coach
Trish Riddell. "So many accomplishments and recognitions. It truly was a team effort, with wins coming from all positions in doubles and singles. Having two singles players and two doubles teams ranked during the year and beating the team that won the national title should only emphasize how the hard work was rewarded!Â
"I am also so proud of the team off the court, receiving the ITA Community Service Award and working in the classroom," continued Riddell. "Our team had a fall GPA of 3.90 and a 3.92 in the spring! A true measure of a student-athlete. I am so proud of this team, GO MOCS!"
Â
Ranked as high as No. 6 during the season, Florida Southern displayed a great lineup throughout the year. Opening the year against tough conference competition, the Mocs eventually went on an eight-match win streak. Overall, FSC had eight wins over nationally-ranked opponents, including a 4-3 win over the eventual national champion Nova Southeastern Sharks on March 27
