PENSACOLA â€" Playing just two doubles matches, and winning both by 8-0 scores, 26th-ranked Florida Southern got a 5-0 win over Delta State after picking up three more points by default in its third match of a 4-match road trip.
With only four players available for Delta State (2-8), the Moccasins (13-5) were assured of winning their 11th straight match to equal their longest streak since starting the 2010 season 11-0. It was also the third straight shutout for the Moccasins, who defeated Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia by 9-0 scores on Friday.
At the top doubles flight, Sabine Goge and Laura Wichmann picked up an 8-0 win over Maria Moya Morales and Hidemi Mayeshiro. Olivia Spagnuolo and Victoria Spagnuolo then teamed up for their own 8-0 win at the second doubles position.
Joalis Dominguez and Crystal Copeland picked up a doubles win by default, and Copeland and Jill Doerfler were awarded singles points by default as well.
Florida Southern will complete its trip on Sunday with a 12:30 EST match against 9th-ranked West Florida.
