BABSON PARK - Florida Southern put the brakes on a two-match losing skid here Wednesday as the 32nd-ranked Moccasins defeated NAIA No. 22 ranked Webber International in a non-conference match at the WIU Tennis Courts.
With the victory, FSC improved to 9-8 on the season, while WIU fell to 10-7 on the season.
The Mocs opened Wednesday's match by picking up all three wins in doubles to take a 3-0 lead in the match.
Junior Emanuel Lueber (Tiengen, Germany) and senior Benoit Paradis (Quebec City, Quebec) picked up an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot, while the next two wins in doubles came by identical 8-6 scores.
Meanwhile, in singles action, the Mocs sealed its win by picking up wins at the No. 6 and No. 4 spots. The Mocs other singles win came at the No. 5 spot by senior Vladimir Barabash (Puhovka, Ukraine), who improved 12-4 on the season.
Junior Charles Garneau (L'ancienne-Lorette, Quebec) picked up a straight set (6-1, 6-2) win at the No. 6 singles spot over WIU's Patricio Henning, while senior Nathan Leavitt (Bradenton, Fla.) sealed the Mocs victory with his 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot over Rodrigo Santibanez.
WIU would end the match by picking up wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots, including earning a win in a third-set tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot. Niklas Kammer picked up the win at the No. 1 over Paradis (6-4, 4-6, 10-5).
The Mocs returns to action on Monday, April 7 as they host Florida Tech in a 3 p.m. SSC match at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
