WINTER PARK – It will be a FSC intersquad Sunday in the consolation finals of the C.L. Varner Memorial Tournament after Day Two's action left two Moccasins alive to face off in the finals of the Flight B singles bracket and two others to tangle in the Flight C bracket.
In Flight A of the doubles competition, the team of Sasha Nionova and Linnea Skymberg fell 9-8(7) to Rollins' Fabiana Vitzana and Savanna Fuller. Nina Vucevic and Lorena Rionda dropped a 8-0 match to Lynn's Diana Bogolli and Rosie Willig. Vucevic and Rionda were awarded third place as their opponents and teammates, Nionova and Skymberg, were unable to continue as Nionova could not play after retiring in the second set of his singles match on Friday.
In Flight B of doubles, Katie Stanford and Carolyn Cureton dropped a 8-1 decision to Saint Leo's Madeline Gauthier and Coralie Pesenti.
In Flight A of Singles, Skymberg was defeated by Rollin's Savanna Fuller, 7-6(5), 6-4. Nionova defaulted to Fuller in the finals.
In Flight B, Rionda downed Saint Leo's Kati Zaatini, 6-1, 6-3 and Vucevic came from behind to beat Vitzana, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 to set up a fifth place final with her teammate on Sunday at 9 am.
In Flight C, Carolyn Cureton was defeated, 7-6, 6-4, by Barry's Adriana Garrett and Stanford was beaten, 6-4, 6-2, by Rollins' Emma Wookey. Cureton and Stanford will play Sunday at 9 am for seventh place.
In Flight D, Shannon Griffin lost in her match, 6-2, 6-0, to Rollins' Katie Wookey.
