MOCS LOOK TO BUILD OFF UPSET VICTORY WITH SWEEP OF SAINT LEO
Florida Southern (10-10 overall, 4-6 SSC) hosts Saint Leo (7-14, 2-9 SSC) at Jenkins Field House (1,800) on Wednesday, Feb. 11 as they look to build off of their home-court upset over No. 24 Nova Southeastern. The game will mark the 11th of 16 SSC games this season for the Mocs and its 11th home game on the year. A win on Wednesday would give the Mocs consecutive home wins for the first time since back-to-back victories over Molloy (N.Y.) on Dec. 19 and Barry on Jan. 3.

In the win over the Sharks, the Moccasins snapped their three-game losing streak and a three-game stretch of lackluster offense. In the three prior losses, FSC managed only 47.0 points per game in their three lowest-scoring games of the season while shooting only 33.5 percent from the field. Their 78 points scored on the Shark were the most since their last win on Jan. 24 at Lynn where the Mocs dropped 90 points on the Fighting Knights. Florida Southern's offense averages a whopping 17.6 more points per game in its 10 wins than in its 10 losses (73.3-to-55.7).

Last time out against Saint Leo, the Mocs scored 81 points and shot 51.5 percent from the field. In the win over the Lions, they also converted a season-high 50.0 percent of their 3-point attempts (5-for-10). Five players scored double-digit points in the first win over Saint Leo.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SAINT LEO
The Mocs have faced Saint Leo 80 times in school history and hold a 70-10 edge all-time in the series. Prior to the win over the Lions on the road on Jan. 7, Saint Leo had swept the two-game series in each of the last two seasons, giving them an all-time series long four-game win streak over the Moccasins. A win on Wednesday would give FSC its first sweep of the Lions since 2012.

FSC leads the series 33-4 in Lakeland, 31-6 in Saint Leo and 6-0 on neutral courts.

SCOUTING SAINT LEO
Saint Leo enters Wednesday's contest ranked with a 7-14 overall record and a 2-9 record inside the Sunshine State Conference. The Lions began the 2014-15 season with a 4-1 record in November, but are 3-13 since, and 2-9 since the start of the 2015 calendar year. They are currently on a two-game losing streak after loses to Florida Tech, 87-71, on Feb. 4 and 64-46 on Feb. 7 against No. 14 Rollins. Their last win came against Barry, 59-54, on Jan. 31.

The Lions are 0-6 on the road this season.

Senior forward Melissa Jackson leads the way for the Lions, averaging a double-double per game with 13.5 points and 10.2 rebounds. She is fifth in the SSC in scoring and leads the conference in rebounding. Jackson is also third in the SSC with 1.4 blocks per game. Her eight double-doubles also lead the league.

In her last two games however, Jackson has scored a combined six points, going 1-for-5 from the field and 4-for-6 from the foul line in a combined 36 minutes. Despite the scoring slump, she grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss to Rollins on Feb. 7.

The Lions have two other active players averaging double digits. Senior guard Kinnara Lewis and junior guard Chachi Guzman average 12.1 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.

Saint Leo has plenty of good 3-point shooters, led by freshman guard Mary Redmond. Redmond leads the team with 33 treys and a 45.8 3-point field goal percentage on the season. Fellow freshman Maggie Flynn has 25 3-pointers and Lewis has 23, the latter shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.

As a team, the Lions are averaging 62.9 points per game and are shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from the 3-point line. They are third in the SSC in 3-pointers per game with 7.0. On defense, Saint Leo is allowing 65.9 points per game and their opponents are shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from the 3-point line. The Lions are last in the league in scoring margin (-3.0) and rebound margin (-8.0).
