Box Score LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's basketball routed visiting Saint Leo in a 72-54 win on Wednesday to open Sunshine State Conference play. The No. 6 Moccasins (3-0, 1-0 SSC) never trailed and forced 25 turnovers as the Lions (2-1, 0-1) lost their fifth-straight game to the Mocs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern allowed just 12 points in a dominant first half. The Mocs raced out to an early 7-0 lead and held the Lions to just 20.8 percent (5-of-24) from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action.
• The Mocs went up by 10 points (15-5) on a jumper from Anissa Toumi with 44 seconds to go in the first quarter, and never led by less than double-digits the rest of the way.
• FSC kept its foot on the gas in the second quarter, eventually grabbing a 20-point lead in the final two minutes of the opening half, and took a 35-12 lead into the locker room.
• Saint Leo fared much better from the floor in the second half, shooting 56.3 percent (18-of-32), but the Lions were never able to come closer than 15 points the rest of the way as Florida Southern cruised to victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern improved to 406-146 all-time at Jenkins Field House, and extended its home winning streak to 14 games. The Mocs are 27-5 in home games under head coach Betsy Harris. The Moccasins also improved to 27-9 all-time in SSC openers, including 3-0 under Harris. The Mocs increased their lead to 74-10 in the all-time series against Saint Leo, including 27-4 at home.
• Five different Moccasins scored in double figures, led by 13 from Anissa Toumi. Jensen Blassage and Anja Fuchs-Robetin each finished with 12, while Camille Giardina and Gianna Vastola scored 10 each. Vastola led all players with eight rebounds, while Fuchs-Robetin grabbed seven. Giardina and Elsa Landberg tied for a game-high four assists.
• The Moccasins forced 25 turnovers, which they converted into 22 points. Florida Southern shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the floor, and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the free-throw line. The Mocs finished with a 28-16 edge in bench points and a16-6 advantage in second-chance points.

• Florida Southern heads to Rollins for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday. The Mocs will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Colorado with games against Colorado School of Mines (Nov. 25) and Regis (Nov. 26).
