Box Score DAVIE – Florida Southern opened up Sunshine State Conference play Wednesday night on the road at Nova Southeastern and saw Nichole Poppe score once in each half to give the Sharks a 2-0 win. The Moccasins fall to 0-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the SSC, and the Sharks are now 5-1, 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both of Poppe's goals were unassisted, with the first one coming in the 23rd minute, and the second one coming in the 62nd minute.

- Florida Southern was led by senior Margot Chowansky, who took five of the Moccasins' 10 total shots, three of which forced Nova goalkeeper Ida Norstrom into saves.
- Though Florida Southern was out-shot 10-3 in the first half, the shot totals were almost equal in the second half, with Nova holding a 9-7 edge. The Mocs had the better of it in corner kicks, 3-2.
- The only Moccasins to go all 90 minutes Wednesday were center backs Juliana Guida and Gaelyn Crowder.
- Helena Norrstrom made seven saves for Florida Southern in a little over 77 minutes before sophomore Paige Koetter went the final 12:57. Koetter did not have to make a save in her collegiate debut.
