Box Score SAINT LEO, FL - Anja Fuchs-Robetin and Theresa Mac-Dangosu each tallied a career-high in points as Florida Southern College women's basketball picked up a 74-61 win over Saint Leo on Wednesday night at the Bowman Center.
The Moccasins (13-7, 9-3 SSC) took down their Sunshine State Conference rivals for the sixth-straight time as the Lions (5-14, 0-11) dropped their eighth-straight contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern led for nearly the entire contest, and was able to weather a late Saint Leo run to snap a three-game losing streak.
• The Lions led by two points (14-12) with 3:11 to go in the first quarter, but the Mocs ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to grab a 22-16 lead after one period of play.
• The Moccasins grabbed their first double-digit lead (27-16) with just over eight minutes to go in the first half. FSC led by as many as 15 points (33-18) in the second quarter, but Saint Leo was able to trim the deficit to just eight points (37-29) just before the half.
• The Lions trailed by just seven (37-30) after the opening possession of the second half, but the Moccasins reeled off a 19-8 run to extend their lead to 18 points (56-38) with 2:32 to play in the third quarter.
• Saint Leo would mount a furious rally in the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run to close the gap to just 10 points (58-48) with 7:04 to go, but the Mocs steadied themselves and never surrendered the lead to earn their ninth conference win of the season.
• Florida Southern shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the floor, and connected on 19-of-24 from the free-throw line while grabbing 42 rebounds. Saint Leo was held to just 37.7 percent (23-of-61) on the night, and snagged just 23 rebounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern improved to 75-10 all-time against Saint Leo, including a 33-6 record when facing the Lions on the road. The Moccasins have won six-straight against Saint Leo.
• Anja Fuchs-Robetin scored a career-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting, and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe while snagging five rebounds.
• Theresa Mac-Dangosu also netted a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 from the floor. She also grabbed five rebounds in her second-straight start.
• Gianna Vastola grabbed eight rebounds, while Camille Giardina scored 13 points off the bench. Florida Southern's bench accounted for 42 points, while the Lions got just 14 points from their reserves.
