PENSACOLA, Fla. - Laura Vetter cruised in singles action on Sunday as Florida Southern College women's tennis concluded its weekend of ITA South Regional action in Pensacola. Vetter dispatched her quarterfinal and semifinal opponents to earn a berth to the consolation bracket final, which did not take place. The Moccasins will be back in action again on Oct. 11-13 for the Rollins Varner Invite.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the singles consolation bracket, Vetter won her quarterfinal matchup after Micaela Maiz of Lee retired in the first set trailing 4-2. The freshman from Huttwil, Switzerland then easily dispatched Tonja Foessmeier of Auburn Montgomery in a 6-0, 6-1 thrashing. The final of the consolation bracket was not played.
- In doubles consolation action, Mathilda Vidgren and Magda Stepnik parternered to advance all the way to the quarterfinal round of the bracket, defeating Borg and Durzynski of Rollins, 6-4, and Dirr and Turro of Montevallo, 6-2. The pairing fell to Wood and Kravjica of Embry-Riddle, 6-2.

"The players competed very well and had some highly competitive and successful matches," head coach Trish Riddell said. "We shall continue to work to improve during the fall."

- The Moccasins will have a week off before traveling to Winter Park, Fla. for the Rollins Varner Invite from Friday, Oct. 11 to Oct. 13.
