LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's ice hockey defeated the Eastern Florida State College Titans 5-0 in front of a rowdy crowd at the Lakeland Ice Arena on Friday.
Zach Wilson opened up the scoring for the Mocs, finding the back of the net off assists from Max Giard and Christian Nichols with 8:03 left in the first. Landon Geels knocked one past the goalie just two and a half minutes later off an assist from Jamie Calhoun. Wilson picked up his second goal of the night to end out the first with 2:41 left to play in the period. His power play goal was assisted by Calhoun and Giard.
Both defenses shined in the second period as the goalies combined for 16 saves in the period.
Patrick Wilson found the net with 6:42 left in the contest off an assist from Ryley Pickrem before Calhoun found a goal of his own off the assists from Ryan Doyle and Geels with just 2:24 left.
With the win, the Mocs claim their first victory over the Titans, moving to 1-2 all time against EFS. This was the third shutout for goalie Logan Cody, who recorded 25 saves during the contest.
