TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Southern men's swimming team, ranked #10 in the nation, win against #12 Tampa in a commanding 181-81 team score Friday afternoon.
The Mocs were named to the top 25 in a CSCAA preseason poll yesterday, and brought the momentum winning nearly every men's event during the meet. Freshman
Ludovico Viberti had a team-high three event wins in the meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A clean sweep of the 1000 yard freestyle with Elder Oliveira, Luka Prostran, and Cole Smith
- Milosz Mencel won the 200 yard freestyle, with Keith Peristeridis and Niko Frese close behind for a top three finish
- Brandon Dyck won both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke
- Brandon Wilson earned second in the 100 yard backstroke, with a third place finish in the 200
- Viberti won the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, with Ludwig Mueller in second for both events
- Viberti also won the 200 yard IM, with Frese earning a third place finish
- Miguel Bernotti won the 100 and 200 yard butterfly, with JJ Saslo in third in the 100
- Kyle Micallef won the 100 yard freestyle, and finished second in the 50 yard freestyle
- K. Peristeridis, Oliveira, and Frese finished as the top three in the 500 yard freestyle
- In relays, the Mocs had groups finished first and third in the 200 yard medley with a second place finish in 200 yard freestyle
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Viberti led the way with three event wins
- Dyck and Bernotti each had two event wins, with four additional Mocs with first place finishes
- The Mocs won nine out of the 10 individual events, with one relay win
- Seven different swimmers represented as top performance during the meet
