DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Florida Southern Softball opened up the 2022 Captain D's Surf 'n Turf Classic at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park this weekend with two big wins. The Mocs first faced Davis and Elkins, defeating the Senators 11-4, and later took down No. 22 Texas A&M - Commerce in game two with a score of 8-2. FSC will face the host of the classic, North Georgia Nighthawks, tomorrow in a doubleheader.

The Mocs continue a very successful season of 6-1, while Davis & Elkins are still looking for their first win as they fell to 0-5 and the Lions dropped to 6-4.

FSC scattered 13 hits in game one followed by 10 in game two for a new season-high of 23 hits on the day.

Florida Southern  11, Davis & Elkins 4
FSC started the morning with a big win behind junior Kelsey Peck who went 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs, two doubles, and three stolen bases including a steal at home plate in the top of the first.

Davis & Elkins took the lead at the bottom of the first but the Mocs answered back scoring three runs in the top of the second, maintaining the lead for the remainder of the game. FSC moved around the bases, scoring on a bases-loaded walk, fielder's choice, and an RBI single from senior Myah Moy to make it a 4-2.

Peck continued her hot hitting with a double to left field bringing in two runners to increase Florida Southern's lead once again at 6-2. Center Fielder Kiki Morris hit a 2 RBI double in the top of the sixth down the left-field line to make it 8-4.

The remaining runs came from Victoria Rodriguez with an RBI triple to score Moy. Rodriguez then scored a run of her own off a wild pitch, and a Senators error to end the game with the Mocs up 11-4.
