  • Florida Southern won their home opener in a 6-1 decision against visiting Eckerd College Monday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The Mocs won the doubles point including a tough tiebreak battle for Valentin Hertweck and Chris Fok Kow who won 7-6 (7-5). Florida Southern went on to win five of the six singles competitions as newcomers Elliott Altman and Matteo Feggi win their first singles matches as Moccasins. Oscar Sohl added another win along with Erik Nordblom that joined Fok Kow as the other Florida Southern singles victories. Carrying the momentum into a conference matchup against Rollins, the Mocs look forward to another chance to shine.
  • Rollins notched their first win in a 7-0 rout of Bates College Tuesday afternoon. Rollins lost a close match to Palm Beach Atlantic 4-3 to start the season and a loss to No. 18 Flagler this past weekend ahead of their Friday bout with the Mocs. After winning two of the three doubles matches for the quick one-point lead, the Tars were unable to tally another singles win other than a 6-3, 6-1 decision by Rollins leader Denis Golubev. Two of the other matches went to a tiebreaker as Andrea Brignacca nearly won his match over No. 31 Nikita Tatyanin but dropped the third set in a 6-4 decision. Moritz Stenzer went to a tiebreak in the competition-deciding third set but lost 7-6 (7-5). The Tars enter with a goal for their first conference win of the 2022 season.
  • Bates College travels to Lakeland on a Florida tour against three opponents in one week. The Bobcats, far from their Maine home, competed against SSC opponent Rollins College and Eastern Florida State in consecutive days this week. The Tars won their first match of the season in a 7-0 win over Bates, with an 8-1 loss against the Titans on Wednesday. A win in a doubles competition match was the only win for the Bobcats so far this season, with Matthew Danielson and Alexander Gujarathi the winning pair. An NCAA Division III opponent can still pose a challenge to the Mocs as Florida Southern continues to utilize their roster depth in meets.
  • Davenport is undefeated to start their spring 2022 season and travel to UTSA in Orlando to face teams in a spring break trip. The Panthers have won their last five spring matches in a row with the last win a 4-3 decision against Walsh University. The Michigan team won their doubles point and three more singles matches, with one being a retired win by the Panthers. Davenport is led by Jonathan Bulmer who tied the Panthers all-time school record with 59 singles wins in a career.

  • Florida Southern Travel to Miami Shores after a 3-1 game three series win over Saint Leo on Sunday. Connor Berry smashed a solo home run in the seventh after taking the lead in the third inning. The Lions only score came in the ninth off a solo homer but the Mocs held off any additional challenge. Florida Southern won their home opener 4-1 against Saint Leo to improve to five straight home opener wins, but were outhit in game two as the Lions split the series 1-1.
  • In conference play the Mocs enter 2-1 and sitting in an early fourth place in SSC standings. Through ten games, the Mocs are batting .260 overall Jeff Liqouri is tied for first in the conference with five home runs to start the season. On the mound, the Mocs sit in the middle of the conference with a 4.40 ERA overall in 90 innings pitched.
  • On the season the Mocs continue to rely on the long ball as they have hit 17 total home runs through 10 games. Florida Southern tied a school record seven home runs in a single game against USC Aiken, leading the conference for home runs. Liquori leads the team with a .370 batting average and 12 RBI.
  • Barry enter with a Tuesday night walk off win in the ninth for a 6-5 win over Palm Beach Atlantic. Barry rallied for three runs in the ninth, including a game-winning two-RBI single by Brandon Sanchez. After a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the Bucs gave up five straight runs before narrowing the deficit to two in the eighth. Danny Vazquez threw a scoreless ninth inning and a strikeout to give Barry a fighting chance.
  • In conference play, the Bucs are stilling looking for their first win as the Tuesday game against PBA was a non-conference matchup. Barry lost their first conference series against Florida Tech in three straight games last weekend, sitting in tenth in early SSC standings.
  • On the season the Bucs are batting .266 overall and in the top four in fielding percentages. On the mound is where the Bucs struggle, giving up an average 6.73 runs a game through 11 games. Giving up 23 doubles on the season, the Mocs look to capitalize on big plays and continue their deep ball play.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan travel to Lakeland, looking for their first win of the season and an early 0-6 start. Last time out the Panthers were swept in their series against No. 24 Montevallo, giving up three home runs in game three. Kentucky Wesleyan hit a solo home in their 9-1 loss but struggled to find runs throughout the series.
  • On the season, the Panthers are led by Hunter Combs with a .278 batting average. On the mound, Kentucky Wesleyan has a combined 10.37 average ERA.
  • HISTORY The Mocs hold a 75-30 advantage in the overall series against the Barry Buccaneers, with an 11-2 loss in their last matchup on April 24th, 2021. Florida Southern actually performs better in Miami Shores compared to Lakeland historically and hope to clinch a big conference road series victory. Against the Panthers, this will be the ninth meeting between the two teams, and the first since March of 2020, where the Panthers won 17-8. Competing with home field advantage plays for the Mocs winning at home nearly 78% of the time.

  • Florida Southern was unable to finish with a win a battle against conference opponent Rollins College in their meet on Wednesday. The Mocs won the doubles competition for a 1-0 lead into singles but could not tally enough points for the close 4-3 loss. Three of the singles matches went to tiebreakers with the game-winning match fell on Isabella Bolivar who lost her first set but won the second for a third set decision. Despite back-and-forth battle, Bolivar was unable to get the win and Mocs lost the match. Olivia Bryant and Maxima Ellenberg won their singles matches in the meet, with both going to a third set. The grit and determination will continue for a busy week for the Mocs before a spring break trip to a tournament in Hilton Head, S.C.
  • Bates is looking for their first win of the spring 2022 season after consecutive loses to Rollins College and Eastern Florida State this week during their tour of Florida opponents. The Mocs will be their third Florida opponent, which heat can be a factor for the Maine team. The Bobcats won one of their doubles matches, losing the doubles point, but was able to add one more singles match win as Alexandra D'Aquino won her match in two straight sets. A close tiebreaker for Laura Littlefield, but not enough as the Titans win 7-2.

  • #18 Florida Southern dropped a one goal game to then-10th-ranked Limestone on the road this past weekend, 12-11. The Mocs went toe-to-toe with the top-10 foe and held a lead late until a three-goal run by the Saints handed the hosts the victory.
  • Senior Kevin Horwitz has been having a record-breaking season so far as he leads the team and conference in both ground balls and faceoff percentage. He holds the career ground balls record at Florida Southern as well as the single game ground balls record which both were set against Belmont Abbey earlier this season. He has twice been named Sunshine State Conference Specialist of the Week this season as well.
  • Junior Jeff Atlas took home his second Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performances at Belmont Abbey and 10th-ranked Limestone. He scored five goals and handed out eight assists for a 13-point weekend. He became the first Moc since 2014 to earn more than one OPOW honor during a season. Atlas needs just one more assist for 100 in his career, making him the lone Moc in program history to achieve the century mark in assists. Junior Sean Nolan sits just two goals away from 100 in his career and he would become just the fourth Moc in program history to achieve 100 career goals. He currently leads the team with 15 tallies this season. Sophomore Thomas Frank sits second on the squad with 13 goals while junior Jay Minor has chipped in 12.
  • Flagler is a first-year program who will be competing in its first home match ever. The Saints are 0-3 so far in 2022 with a 14-8 loss at Embry-Riddle, a 9-8 overtime defeat at Palm Beach Atlantic and a 17-6 setback versus Florida Tech. The Saints will be competing in the Peach Belt Conference and have four other SSC schools remaining on the schedule including Rollins, Saint Leo, Lynn and Tampa.
  • Freshman Thomas Pritchard and sophomore Ty Tom lead the squad with six goals each. Freshman Drew Flagg has chipped in four goals as well. Freshman Tyler Douglass leads the squad in assists with three. Sophomore Jake Griffin (25-43/.581) and freshman Matt Mitrega (13-22/.591) take the majority of the faceoffs for the Saints. Flagler has used a pair of goalkeepers this season with both seeing nearly identical minutes. Sophomore Nate Lehr is 0-2 on the year with 21 saves and a 12.01 goals against average while classmate Time Russell is 0-1 with 16 saves and a 13.35 GAA.
  • HISTORY: This Saturday will mark the first meeting between the Saints and Moccasins on a lacrosse field.

  • Florida Southern will host Queens after a few weeks off from competition. In the last game out, the Moccasins defeated no. 23 Saint Leo 19-13 in the season opener on Feb. 9. In the win, Brenna Smith led with five goals while it was Lizzy Lynch who paced the team in points with seven on four goals and three assists.
  • Hailey Daleo added six points with four goals and two assists. Madison Tar, Ellie Griffin, and Abby McFerren all contributed two goals in the season opener.
  • After the win, Ryan Kelly was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week after four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • No. 3 Queensb> will arrive at Bered Field after competing against Saint Leo on Friday night. The Royals are 2-0 heading into the weekend after wins over Newberry College (21-5) and Lee (24-8).
  • On the season, Queens averages 22.5 goals per game led by Rebecca Kinsley with 11 goals on the year. Kyleigh Masteran is second on the team with 10 while Shannon Kingston is third with eight points.
  • HISTORY Florida Southern is 8-1 overall against Queens with a 4-1 mark at home. In the last meeting, in 2020, the Royals pulled out a 15-14 win over the Moccasins where the two teams were fourth and eighth in the IWLCA rankings, respectively. This matchup, they are third and seventh, respectively.

  • Florida Southern opened up Sunshine State Conference play last weekend when the team traveled to face the top team in the SSC Saint Leo University. The Mocs went 0-3 to start out after an upsetting loss in game one 6-1. The Lions went on to capture both games in the doubleheader winning 8-4 and 7-0 in the finale.
  • In conference play, the Mocs started out with the lead in the first two games of the series but it was Saint Leo that had the final say and defeated the Mocs in all three games of the series.
  • On the season, seniors Myah Moy and Jadin Dewith are leading the way. Both have started in every game for FSC as Moy is 17-for-40 on the season followed by Dewith going 13-for-32 both with four runs. Freshman Destiny Colgate is still the lone Moc with a homer on the season but brings in 10 runners along with Moy who is hitting a .425 average.
  • Barry is currently supporting an 8-5 record with the most recent win being during their SSC opener against Florida Tech last weekend. The Bucs won 1-0 to open up conference play but fell in the doubleheader with a 5-3 and 1-0 decision. Outside of conference play Barry defeated No. 8 St. Anselm 10-1 before falling to No. 17 West Florida in eight innings 3-2.
  • In conference play, the Buccs are sitting in seventh after the first weekend of SSC play. Mac Stone-Folmer is leading Barry with a .286 batting average, going 2-for-7 over the weekend. Maci Barnhart received the only win pitching a complete game for a .50 ERA with eight strikeouts.
  • On the season, the Buccs are led by Courtney Chisholm with a .447 batting average going 17-for-38 with eight RBIs and seven runs scored. Four Barry players have home runs on the year in Maggie Wheless, Cassandra Lee, Sofia Chamorro, and Payton Germer, as Germer is batting a .324.
  • HISTORY The Mocs hold a 69-58 win ratio over the Buccs with the last four games going to Barry.
