Softball Goes Undefeated on Day Two of the Flagler Tournament

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - After an incredible start to the 2022 season, Florida Southern softball continued to control the game at the Flagler Tournament. The Mocs started the morning off with a 1-0 win over the host Flagler and finished out the day with a 9-4 win against Georgia Southwestern.
 
The Mocs start off their early-season 3-0, while Flagler drops to 1-2 after their loss and Georgia Southwestern falls to 0-3. 
 
FSC scattered 15 hits on the day with senior Myah Moy notching a team-high three hits in the two games with two RBIs. 
 
Tiana Hernandez picked up the win in game one, pitching a complete game with five strikeouts. Kaylee Cowart opened up game two for the Mocs as Cat Buckner came in to collect the win, pitching 6.1 innings and earning five strikeouts. 
 
Florida Southern kept Flagler down to just two hits and six hits for Georgia Southwestern in game two of the day.

FSC opened the morning with a win behind junior Hernandez's win in the circle. The right-handed pitcher went a complete game allowing just two hits while fanning five batters. 
 
As a group, the Mocs put together four hits in game one from Skyler Ralstin, Maddi Conner, and Jadin Dewith. Ralstin went 2-for-3 from the plate with one run scored.
 
FSC was the only team to score coming in the fifth inning. Florida Southern scored off a Saints fielder's choice giving Kelsey Peck the RBI sending Ralstin home and giving the Mocs the 1-0 win to start the morning off. 
 
Florida Southern 9, Georgia Southwestern 4
The second game of the day started off a little different as they had to fight their way back from a 4-0 lead in favor of Georgia Southwestern. The Hurricanes opened up with four runs in the top of the first, making FSC work their way back to earn the win and stay undefeated. 
 
In the bottom of the second Jadyn Bushnell singled up the middle for an RBI. The Mocs cut the Georgia Southwestern lead in half when Peck singled to right-center, scoring Bushnell for an unearned run and making it 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth. 
 
The Bushnell and Ralstin duo did it again with an RBI from Bushnell as Ralstin came in to score with FSC only down by one.  Moy gave the Mocs their game-tying run with a single up the middle, followed by a Hurricanes error to take a 6-4 lead. Ralstin ended the fifth inning for FSC with a sac fly giving the Mocs a 7-4 advantage. 
 
The final two runs came during the bottom of the sixth when Moy and Destiny Colgate singled to close out the game with a 9-4 win for FSC. 
 
Florida Southern was led by Moy going 3-for-4 from the plate and two RBIs. Peck went 2-for-3, one RBI and a run followed by Kiki Morris' 2-for-4 and a run scored. Bushnell also brought in two runners followed by Victoria Rodriguez, Colgate, and Ralstin with an RBI of their own.
 
Buckner got the nod in the circle and went 6.1 innings earning the win tallying five strikeouts.

Florida Southern rounds out the Flagler tournament series tomorrow Sunday, February 6 at 10:00 pm as they face Queens University of Charlotte.
