Mocs Fall in Doubleheader at Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. - After opening up the series with a 4-3 win against Florida Tech, Florida Southern College softball dropped the twin bill with a score of 4-2 in game one and 7-0 in the finale.

The Mocs drop the series 2-1 and move to 13-16 overall and 2-10 in the Sunshine State Conference.

FLORIDA SOUTHERN 2, FLORIDA TECH 4
Florida Tech took an early 1-0 as FSC first hit of the day came from four-hole hitter Myah Moy in the top of the second inning with a single to right field. The Mocs did not see their second hit until leadoff Jadin Dewith singled to open up the top of the sixth but was left stranded at first with the Panthers up 3-0.

Florida Southern had to rally in the top of the seventh to try and take FIT into extras as the Panthers scored another run in the bottom of the sixth off a sacrifice fly to center field. The bats of FSC came to life in the final inning as Moy started it off with another single to left field. Maddi Conner and Skyler Ralstin hit back-to-back singles to load the bases, but it was a fielder's choice and a ground out that scored two for the Mocs before the final out was given to finish the game 4-2.

FLORIDA SOUTHERN 0, FLORIDA TECH 7
The Panthers continued their momentum from game one as they started out with a 4-0 lead after a 3-run RBI home run.

Ralstin hit a two-out single in the top of the second for the Mocs, but the sophomore was left stranded at first. Florida Tech increased their lead to 5-0 with an RBI single before the other two runs in the bottom of the sixth came across the plate on a 2-run RBI to score two more and make it 7-0.

Pinch hitter Jaydn Bushnell came in and hit a single in the final inning to try and get something going for FSC, but it was the Panthers that took game two of the doubleheader.
