Back-to-Back Sunday Match Wins For Women's Tennis

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – A great day for the Florida Southern College women's tennis team as they win both of their Sunday matches during their spring break trip to Hilton Head.
 
The Mocs (5-2, 1-2 SSC) won every set in their first match of the day against Davis and Elkins College, with a 6-1 win over Lewis University in the afternoon.
 
MATCH ONE
The Mocs started their day with another doubles competition point win built by great performances by Eve Robinson and Kelly Klaren as well as Flor Salerno and Maxima Ellenberg. Pairing of Mallory Kelly and Karina Bazilevych won their doubles flight 6-0.
 
Florida Southern won all of the sets in the singles competition, to keep the Senators from a set win. Salerno won her flight in a 6-2, 6-1 decision, along with Robinson a 6-2, 6-0 win. Kelly tallied her flight win in commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory to keep her opponent without a single point. The match-deciding point went to Olivia Bryant in her 6-0, 6-0 win over Davis & Elkins. Vivien Charvatova added a flight win and the seventh sweeping point for the Moccasins.
 
MATCH TWO
A slight change in lineups for the second match of the day for the Mocs as Laura Vetter and Mathilda Vidgren teamed up for a 6-4 win. Minnie Kim and Charvatova won their flight in another 6-4 decision with Ellenberg and Salerno together again for a 6-2 win and sixth straight match with the doubles point.
 
In the singles competition, Ellenberg, Bryant and Vidgren handled their flights with two-set wins. Isabella Bolivar joined in with a 6-2, 6-3 flight victory. After losing her first set, Kim rallied for a set two win and a 10-3 tiebreaker set victory. Vetter fought for set one win, but unable to tally the flight win in a close tiebreaker third set to the Senators.
 
UP NEXT
The Mocs stay on their weekend trip to face Ashland University tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. before returning to Lakeland.
