LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Softball team returned to action and started out with a win against Minnesota-Duluth on Wednesday evening. The Mocs hosted the Bulldogs to a non-conference doubleheader and took away a 1-0 win before falling in the nightcap 6-4 on Chris Bellotto field.
FSC moved to 7-10 on the year and stayed 0-6 conference play.Â

The Mocs won game one in walk-off fashion as neither team could bring a runner across the plate until the bottom of seventh.
Kelsey Peck got the RBI with a sacrifice fly to score
Kiki Morris after she reached on a bunt, stole second, and advanced to third on a single from
Jadin Dewith to put her in scoring position.Â
FSC outhit Minnesota-Duluth 8-to-4 all starting with a triple from
Maddi Conner in the bottom of the second.
Lane Edgington pitched a complete game not allowing a hit from the Bulldogs until the bottom of the fourth allowing only four hits.
Edgington earned her second win and is now 2-1 on the season striking out two batters. Conner led the way going 2-for-3 from the plate with Dewith right behind going 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot.Â

Destiny Colgate, Morris, and Peck as Colgate hit a double in the bottom of the fourth.Â

The second game of the doubleheader started completely different than the first as both teams scored early and often to start the first inning.Â
Minnesota-Duluth scored three in the top of the first to start out with a 3-0 lead. FSC answered back, scoring two runs to cut the Bulldogs lead down to just one run. Peck, Colgate, and Moy all singled, but Moy would get an RBI scoring Peck. Moy later scored on an RBI double from Conner to make it a 3-2 game after just one inning of play.Â
The Mocs took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second as
Chloe Potts got the bats alive with a single to the shortstop. Dewith continues to be the leading force behind this Mocs team, singling to put Potts in scoring position. Peck tripled to right-center field, scoring Potts and Dewith giving FSC the go-ahead run.Â
Florida Southern kept the lead until the top of the fourth when Minnesota-Duluth scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 4-4. The Bulldogs scored on an RBI single to take the lead and capitalized on it in the top of the seventh to make it a 6-4 game and earn the split.Â
Peck led the Mocs offense going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a triple, and a run scored. In the circle, three Mocs took on the Bulldogs as
Kaylee Cowart opened it up pitching three innings.
Tiana Hernandez went three innings striking out three batters but unfortunately received the loss to move to 2-2 on the season. Â

Florida Southern hits the road this weekend, Saturday, March 12. The Mocs will face No. 11 Tampa in a non-conference matchup. The doubleheader is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
