BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Myah Moy's first home run of the season leads Florida Southern College softball to a 6-3 win over Lynn University on Friday afternoon to secure the three-game series. Southern took the first game 7-1 and then fell 3-0 in the second, yesterday afternoon. The victory today moves the Mocs to just under 18-20 overall and 7-14 in the Sunshine State Conference with a win in the series finale.
Destiny Colgate started the off action in her first at-bat with a huge double that advanced
Kelsey Peck, who had been walked on the previous at-bat, to third. Then, Moy stepped up to the plate, and knocked the ball over the right-field fence, for a three-run home run.
In the top of the third, Southern was able to capitalize on some fielding errors from Lynn, as
Jadin Dewith and Peck both made it on base due to errors. With two runners on,
Mariah Rodriguez slapped the ball into left field, allowing Dewith and Peck to score and the Mocs to take a 5-0 lead.
At the bottom of the fourth, the Fighting Knights rallied to bring three runners in and close in 5-3 to the Mocs. In the sixth,
Maddi Conner singled to the pitcher and on the next at-bat got a huge jump to steal second. Conner advanced to third on an error and later scored after
Kiki Morris placed the ball perfectly for an RBI single into right field.
In the circle,
Lane Edgington secured her fifth win of the season, only letting up two hits in her two innings pitched.
