Florida Southern is closing out their 2022 home season this week with a three-game series against Embry-Riddle. The Mocs hope to turn their play around after falling in all three games against No. 11 Tampa last weekend. First the Mocs fell to the Spartans 4-1 the opener then battled it out in the first game of the doubleheader where the game remained scoreless until the Spartans scored 1-0 in the top of the sixth on a wild pitch. Tampa later closed out the series with a run-rule to take the final game 8-0..
In conference play the Mocs are sitting fourth with a .263 batting average with 173 hits 25 doubles. Southern has the least amount of home runs on the year with just three in the SSC. Destiny Colgate is leading the way for FSC in hitting, sitting 11th in the conference with a .347 batting average, playing and starting in 24 games. Colgate has seen 78 at bats, with nine runs, 26 hits, six doubles, while bringing in eight runners.
On the season,senior Myah Moy is leading the Mocs with a .365 batting average going 42-for-115 from the plate with six doubles, 22 RBIs and a homer. Overall, Destiny Colgate is right behind Moy, batting .341 on the year with 44 hits, 16 doubles, 63 RBIs and a homerun. Jadin Dewith and Maddi Conner are both hitting in the 300s for the Mocs as Dewith is averaging .300 and Conner at .310. Leadoff, Dewith has 39 hits, 19 runs, two doubles, and five RBIs, while Conner has a homer, three triples, six doubles, 13 RBIs, and 35 hits. In the circle, Kayla Hickey owns a 5-4 record, pitching the most games for FSC with 24 having four complete games with 61 innings pitched striking out 30 batters. Mel Rogers is leading the way with strikeouts sending 44 batters back to the dugout.
RV Embry-Riddle is on a one game winning streak capturing a 3-2 SSC series win against Saint Leo this past weekend. In the conference Embry-Riddle took one game from the No.6 ranked Tampa in the series opener with a 1-0 decision.
On the season, sophomore Mahaliyah Sandridge is leading the way batting a .379 appearing in every game with 44 hits in 116 at bats. She has five home runs on the year with 23 RBIs, 11 doubles, five triples, and 33 runs. The Eagles have three pitchers on the year with senior Kelsi Collins owning a 17-6 record with a 2.45 ERA. She pitched 19 complete games striking out 128 batters.
HISTORY: The Mocs and Eagles have not been in action until 2016. Embry-Riddle has a 2-10 record against Florida Southern where the Mocs fell 5-0.
