PALM HARBOR, Fla. – No. 10 Florida Southern men's golf closed out the fall portion of the 2023-24 season with an eighth-place finish at the Copperhead Championship on the par-71 7,209-yard Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort. The Moccasins finished with a 54-hole event score of 874 (+22) after posting a final round even, 300 (+16).
Adam Alvarez paced the Mocs at the final tournament after climbing five spots Tuesday with a one-over 72, mirroring his second round for a three-round score of 215 (+2). Alvarez led the team in both pars (37) and tied for the lead in birdies (8) for the final fall tournament.
Max Barile was second on the team and finished tied for 24
th at 218 (+5) with a final round 77 (+6). Barile was second on the team in pars (34) and tied Alvarez in birdies.
Tyler Mistretta,
Donte Groppuso, and
Freddie Parlby all finished within a stroke of each other where Mistretta bested the trio with a 221 (+8) total for 37
th place. Groppuso completed the tournament at 222 (+9) in 42
nd place ahead of Parlby's 223 (+10) for 50
th place.
Mistretta carded a final round of 75 (+4) while Groppuso had a round of 76 (+5) with Parlby closing the gap with a two-over 73. Parlby was tied for second in total pars for the event with 34 while Mistretta and Groppuso tied for second in total birdies (7).
Clay Tucker rounded out the Mocs in the field, and his first tournament of his junior season, in 81
st place with a round of 77 (+6) for an event total of 232 (+19).
No. 9 Lee hung on for the team win after posting a final score of 289 (+5) for a 853 (+1) event score, besting No. 8 West Florida by two strokes. The Flames' Oliver Lewis-Perkins claimed the individual title thanks to a final round 66 (-5), finishing at 202 (-11).

Florida Southern will take three months off from competition before opening the spring season on Feb. 5-6 at the Matlock Collegiate at Lone Palm Golf Club. The Moccasins posted four top-10 finishes at all four events in the fall including a pair of team wins at the NCAA National Championship Preview (Sept. 11-12) and the Shark Invitational (Oct. 2-3).
Adam Alvarez earned his second collegiate tournament this fall with a win at the National Championship Preview with a 206 (-10) 54-hole event score.
