KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After three weeks of play, Florida Southern College men's basketball moved into the top-25 of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches Poll, at no. 25 for the first regular season poll of the 2023-24 campaign.Â
Florida Southern opened the year with a pair of wins at the 2023 Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic, over Virginia Union (79-62) and then-no.8 UNC Pembroke (87-82). The Mocs went on to move to 3-0 with a win a week later over Savannah State (78-63) before dropping their first loss to Auburn Montgomery (68-65) on Nov. 11. Florida Southern earned its fourth win of the year against Lincoln on Alumni Day on Nov. 18 (85-73) to sit at 4-1 heading to Thanksgiving weekend where the Moccasins host the annual Mocs Thanksgiving Classic.
Florida Southern will face Catawba on Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. before another top-10 matchup this season against newly no. 10 North Georgia (3-0) on Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The Mocs opened the year receiving votes in the poll and moved into the top-25 heading into the final weekend of play in the month of November. Florida Southern is joined by just the Nova Southeastern University Sharks as Sunshine State Conference representatives in the first NABC Coaches Poll where the Sharks landed at no. 1 in the latest rankings. NSU opened the year at no. 2 but moved to the top spot after receiving 400 points across the voters.Â
