LAKELAND, Fla. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2023 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams have been released to include three from Florida Southern College's women's basketball team.
Recipients of the Academic All-District Team for Division II including Florida Southern's Arriyana Bracero, Marissa Jenike, and Domenica Zamora.
Bracero is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Sport Business Management. The Huntingtown, Md. native has appeared in 21 games hitting a new career-high of 11 points on Feb. 8 against Rollins.
Jenike, is also a sophomore and is from Cincinnati, Ohio with an undeclared major. The point guard has appeared in all 25 games for the Mocs with 19 starts. Jenike hit a career-high this year in scoring 22 points against the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez.
One of the Moccasins team captains, Zamora is a senior pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Guayaquil, Ecuador native received Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors in the third week of the season after traveling to Puerto Rico. The Ecuadorian tallied nine steals, six defensive rebounds, and a block in a 75-51 win against UPR Rio Piedras, followed by 10 defensive rebounds and three steals in an 82-46 victory against UPR Mayaguez. Offensively, she provided the Moccasins with 20 points and 11 assists on the Island of Enchantment.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. For more information on the CSC Academic All-America Team, click here.
