LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College women's tennis team wrapped up the opening weekend with the FSC Invite Sunday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
Florida Southern had a great finish to the FSC Invite that featured the No.14 University of Tampa, No. 5 Flagler College, and St. Pete College. The nationally ranked battle went throughout the day as each of the teams played in a hidden duals-style format with daylong action on the courts.
The Mocs opened with a doubles competition that
Maxima Ellenberg and
Laura Vetter beat their Flagler pair. Another doubles win included
Kennedi Brown and Kelley Klaren, who won in yesterday's pairing, in a 7-6 (4) thriller. FSC had wins by
Karina Bazilevych and
Olivia Bryant (6-3) against Tampa, and a pairing of Bryant and Klaren against St. Pete College opponent.
In singles play, Florida Southern had two set wins by Bryant,
Isabella Bolivar, and Brown. Brown tallied her first collegiate win in yesterday's invite competition, as Bryant and Bolivar notch their first wins of the 2023 season.
The Mocs will host No. 1 Barry University this Saturday, Feb. 11, set for a 9 a.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
