EATONTON, Ga. - The Florida Southern College men's golf team sits in second place after the first round of the shortened-Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee Monday. The tournament, originally scheduled to be a 54-hole event, saw low temperatures for Monday which made officials change course and make it a straight 36-hole event with 18 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The Moccasins used the delayed start to charge the field and hold second place, one stroke off the leaders North Georgia, and a three-stroke cushion from behind contenders Columbus State.Â
Of the 84 players in the field, three Mocs are in the top-10 and four in the top-20. Florida Southern's
Clay Tucker is leading the team at one under 69 and in a tie for second place.
Adam Alvarez and
Tyler Mistretta have tied for sixth at even-par 70 ahead of
Max Barile in 20th-place at two-over 72.Â
Freddie Parlby rounded out the FSC golfers in the field and sits in 48th at five-over 75, with plenty of ground to make up over the final 18 holes Tuesday.Â
North Georgia is holding the team lead, 280 (E), ahead of Florida Southern, 281 (+1), with Columbus State rounding out the top-three teams, 284 (+4). The Nighthawks' Stephen Kinsel is the individual leader after a three-under 67 to start the tournament.Â
