LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Ice Hockey defeated the University of Florida Gators 12-2 in the semifinals of the College Hockey South Playoffs PictSweet Cup hosted by at the Lakeland Ice Arena.

Florida Southern took on fourth-seeded Florida and defeated the Gators 12-2 behind monster performances from
Paul Rigiloni,
Keaton Clay, and
Drew Montanarella. Rigiloni had yet another great performance for the Moccasins in the PictSweet cup, tallying four goals and one assist over the Gators. Clay was the top Moc with three goals and four assists while Montanarella, a defender, registered five points with one goal and four assists.
The Moccasins tallied 57 shots against the Gators landing 12 in the back of the net.
Andrew Kaiser was big between the pipes for Florida Southern making 23 saves and allowing just two for Florida.
Florida Southern will take on top-seeded Tampa at 12:45 pm in the Championship game, after Florida and Florida State battle it out for third place at 10 a.m. The Spartans defeated sixth-seed Florida State 9-1 to advance to the championship game.
In the afternoon contests on Saturday, Florida Tech defeated South Florida 10-4 to take home fifth place while the Volunteers of Tennessee blanked Embry-Riddle 11-0 to finish seventh in the 2023 tournament.
