LAKELAND, Fla. – Head coach
Andy Robins has released the Florida Southern College swimming 2023-24 schedule with six dual meets and three multi-team meets beginning with a dual meet against Florida Tech on October 7
th in Lakeland.
"I'm looking forward to getting started soon," said Robins. "This year's schedule features a few multi-team meets, including the Panther Invitational at FIT, as well as meets at Nova Southeastern and Florida State. The Sunshine State Conference is one of the most competitive conferences in Division II and our dual meet schedule includes all our SSC opponents including a home meet in January with Barry University in their inaugural season. We will also host Indian River State College in a rare dual meet over the Christmas Break. The Pioneers have won the past 45 (Women) and 49 (Men) NJCAA Championships. While we lost some great swimmers to graduation, we have a strong class of freshmen and transfers who are excited to get to work and looking forward to the challenges of a new season."
The 2023-24 campaign will feature four meets at home, each at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool. There will be two invitationals, a quad-meet, and three road dual meets against Sunshine State Conference opponents.
The home opener will also start the new season with a dual meet against Florida Tech on Oct. 7, set for a noon start. The following weekend will be the annual Shark Invitational featuring several teams in Davie, hosted by Nova Southeastern. October 20
th will be a dual meet for the men's team as they face Division I opponent Florida State, as the women will take on FSU, West Florida, and North Florida.
November will see two meets, the first a dual meet against Tampa on Nov. 4 at home, before the Panther Invitational on Nov. 17-19 in Melbourne. The Mocs will host Indian River State College on Dec. 15 before the end of the calendar year.
Florida Southern will start 2024 with a short road trip to Winter Park on Jan. 12 to face Rollins College before the last home meet of the season on Jan. 13 against Barry University. The last of the regular season will be a trip south against Nova Southeastern on Jan. 19 and Lynn University on Jan. 20.
The 2024 SSC Championships will take place Feb. 21-25, this year at the FAST center in Ocala, Fla. in which Robins added that the facility just opened last year and has already become one of the premier facilities in the southeast. The NCAA Championships will follow on March 12-16 in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute – Aquatics Center.
