Moore Promoted to Men's Soccer Associate Head Coach

LAKELAND, Fla. – After two years on the sideline as an assistant coach for the Florida Southern College men's soccer team, coach Antony Moore has been promoted to the role of associate head coach, Moccasins head coach Ashley Holmes '12 announced today (Aug. 31).

"Antony is an integral part of our men's soccer program," Head Coach Holmes stated. "He is a fantastic coach and extremely hard working. He works diligently and positively with our student-athletes every day to improve them both on and off the field. I am excited to promote him to the position of Associate Head Coach."

Moore helped lead the Moccasins to a 10-13-10 (W-L-T) overall record the past two seasons with a 7-4-5 record at Berend Field. With his leadership, in conjunction with Head Coach Ashley Holmes '12, the two helped coach Henri Tophoven to the program's first All-American nods since 1969 (Jim Dawsey). Tophoven was named D2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Second Team All-America while he also earned First Team All-Sunshine State Conference.

The Mocs saw Tophoven push the pace in the classroom as well while being tabbed the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team Member of the Year after his All-District and All-America First Team accolades in 2022. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-South Region and the D2 CCA First Team All-Region team.

Moore, a native of Douglas, Isle of Man, joined the Mocs in 2021 and immediately helped the team make an appearance in the Sunshine State Conference tournament. The Moccasins advanced to the SSC Tournament Quarterfinals while seeing three student-athletes earn All-SSC honors including a pair of second team nods and one honorable mention. Following the season, senior James Meehan, under the guidance of Holmes and Moore, was selected to participate in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.

Moore helps assist Holmes in every aspect of the program including practice and game-day preparations, recruiting, video review and breakdown, player development, and academics where the Mocs obtained the program's highest grade point average (GPA) for an academic year in 2022-23. In the same season, Moore joined forces with Holmes to push the team to a top-five finish in Community Service Hours in the country (via HelperHelper rankings).

Over the past two seasons, Moore has helped guide a total of 43 student-athletes to SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades while 24 have gone on to earn D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards.

The Moccasins are set to open the 2023 campaign at home with a pair of games on Sept. 2 and Sept. 4. Florida Southern takes on Mississippi College at 7 p.m. on the 2nd to open the season before playing Delta State at 1 p.m. on the 4th.
