LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's soccer team will travel to West Palm Beach to compete in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Championship, beginning on Monday, Nov. 10.

Eighth-seed Moccasins (6-8-2, 3--6-1 SSC)
Florida Southern earned the final spot in the conference tournament after beating Barry University on Nov. 1 with a 2-1 performance to honor the seniors on senior day. Along with the win, the University of Tampa fell to Saint Leo in the final conference match that punched the Mocs' ticket to the SSC tournament for the first time since 2023. In conference, the Mocs are second in shots, just one shot behind the top team, Rollins, with 202 shots for the season. On the defensive end, Florida Southern comes in fifth, averaging 1.50 goals per game.Â

Individually, for the Mocs, FSC has seven different goal scorers, led by
Tim Baierlein. Baierlein has eight goals on the season with two assists for 18 total points. He also leads the team in shots with 28 and shots on goal with 18. Next, a familiar name to the Mocs' offensive front is
Darcy Moffat. Moffat, the leading goal scorer for the 2024 season, is just behind Baierlein with six shots and ties him with two assists for 14 total points. The duo of Baierlein and Moffat are the only two Mocs to score multiple goals in one single game this season, with Baierlein scoring two against Rollins (Oct. 10), and Moffat scoring two against Barry (Nov. 1).
Daniel Shabani has contributed two goals on the year to finish out the multiple scoring player. The other four Moccasins to score this year are

Ryan Fitzgerald, and
Paul Hansen, all scoring one goal, contributing to the team's 21 total goals scored this season.Â

As a team, FSC averages 12.6 shots a game and holds a 70-80 advantage in corners compared to their opponents. With the addition of overtime or penalty kicks to determine a postseason winner, the Mocs went 2-3 in penalty kick opportunities this season.

#2/First-seed Sailfish (12-1-2, 8-0-2 SSC)
Palm Beach Atlantic sits at the top of the conference and close to the top of the United Soccer Coaches College Ranking at No. 2, just behind the University of Charleston (14-0-3). In the SSC, the Sailfish only rank the top team in one category, being goals averaging just .47 goals per game; just seven total goals in 15 games played. The Sailfish have 32 goals this season, averaging just over 13 shots a game. They hold a sizable advantage in corners, with 92, just behind Rollins (84) as a conference leader. Individually, PBA is led by Tin Vastic, who has 43 shots, averaging just over per game to lead the conference in shots and game-winning goals this season with six. Vastic leads the team in goals with 11, followed by Juan Hermoso with five, Marko Borovic and Niklas Mahler with two, and 10 other Sailfish with singular goals in the season. Defensively, Flavio Giannini has 14 games played with a GAA of .50 and 38 saves. He has a save percentage of 84%, allowing just seven goals in 2025.

Florida Southern is 16-13-5 overall when facing the Sailfish. The last matchup was on Oct. 4, as the Mocs fell 2-0. When playing in West Palm Beach against PBA, FSC has an overall record of 3-9-1. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the SSC tournament.
