GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Florida Southern College men's golf used an even-par 288 for the final round of the Mizuno Intercollegiate to climb two spots, finishing in 10
th place at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. The Moccasins finished the event with a 54-hole score of 876 (+12) while the five players made a combined 169 pars and 40 birdies.
Max Barile, a redshirt sophomore, shot up 29 places on the leaderboard thanks to his final round 70 (-2) where he finished tied for 25
th with
Adam Alvarez. Barile, a native of Land O' Lakes, Fla., made 14 pars and three birdies over his final 18 while closing the tournament with 36 pars and nine birdies.
Alvarez, who stayed in 25
th place, shot a 73 (+1) Tuesday and finished at 218 (+2). He closed the tournament tied for the team lead in birdies (10) while he was third in total pars with 33.
Bryce Walker finished with a 220 (+4) score for the tournament after a Tuesday round of 75 (+3), good for 37
th place out of the 100 golfers in the field.
Tyler Mistretta made the largest jump for the team, shifting 31 spots to finish tied for 53
rd after a final round 70 (-2). His final round tied Barile for the team low for the tournament. He also tied Alvarez for the most birdies at the tournament on the team with 10.
Max Watson closed the Mocs in the field of play with a 233 (+8), 91
st place finish. Watson paced the team in pars with 37.
No. 11 Lincoln Memorial claimed the team title after a final round 281 (-7) where the Railsplitters finished with a team score of 837 (-27), defeating second place, and hosts, North Georgia by 11 (848).
Columbus State's Martin Gruendemann jumped two spots to earn medalist honors at nine-under 207 following rounds of 68, 70, 69.
