Five From Men's Soccer Earn CSC Academic All-District

LAKELAND, Fla. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2024 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams have been released to include five from the Florida Southern College men's soccer team.
 
Recipients of the Academic All-District Team for Division II included Florida Southern's Mathias Kjølner, Ruben Linden, Darcy Moffat, Jay Skelcher-Maxwell for the second consecutive year, along with Felix Tonne for his third year in a row..
 
To qualify for the award, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. In addition to academic standards, student-athletes must compete in a majority of contests as a key contributor.
 
Kjolner is a senior pursuing a degree in finance and holds a 3.55 GPA. The 5-10 defender appeared in 10 games for the Mocs, with 10 starts for 645 minutes of action. A native of Tonsberg, Vestfold, Norway, Kjolner had two shots on goal during the season totaling six shots on the year.
 
Linden is a senior working toward a business administration degree, with a 3.53 GPA. Appearing in and starting in all 14 games, the 6-2 defender played a total of 1,237 minutes. The Växjö, Sweden native had one assist on the year, the game-winner against RV Tampa midway through the season. He finished with eight shots, two on goal. 
 
Moffat is working toward a degree in accounting, with a 3.55 GPA. Also appearing in and starting in all 14 games, the 5-11 forward earned All-SSC team honors and was named SSC offensive player of the week for his performance against Christian Brothers and Delta State scoring three goals. The London, England native led the Mocs on the season with nine goals, a season-high of 35 shots, 19 on goal playing 1,140 minutes of action.
 
Skelcher-Maxwell is a graduate student earning his master's degree in business analytics with a 3.93 GPA. The captain for the Mocs played and started in 11 games as a midfielder for 870 minutes of action. The Douglas, Isle of Man native, had 14 shots, four being on goal for the season.
 
Tonne is earning the academic All-District for the third consecutive year. The senior is earning a degree in marketing and currently holds a 3.70 GPA. A 5-9 midfielder, he saw action in all 14 games with 13 starts. A Kolbotn, Norway native, had a season-high of three assists on the year, 15 shots, and three shots on goal.  
 
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10 (men) and December 11 (women). 
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
