HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Junior Christian Giller advances to the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country National Championships after placing second overall at the South Region Championship at John Hunt Park Saturday morning.
 
Florida Southern placed fourth out of the 20 complete teams with 91 points. Lee captured the team title with 39 points followed by Alabama Huntsville in second (63), and Mississippi College in third (81).
 
Christian Giller, the top Moccasin in each race of the season including the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Championship, punched his ticket to the national championship after running a 10k time of 30:38.31 Saturday morning. His personal best time also breaks the program's top 10k time by nearly 20 seconds, besting the previously held record of 30:58.1 by Eric Walker set back in 2006 and the Florida Southern Men's Cross Country 10k regional time of 31:42.2 set by Festus Kemboi in 2016. 

Chris Colavita was the second Moc to finish the line and notched a top-15 finish at 31:37.12, fast enough for 15^th place. Cole Summers, Joshua Kraver, and Elijah De La Cerda all finished in the top 30 of the 100 runners with Summers in 21^st (32:00.88), Kraver in 26^th (32:11.86), and De La Cerda in 27^th (32:12.34).
 
Caleb Brady and Aiden Redmond closed out the Moccasins in the field and captured finishes to put all Florida Southern runners in the top half of the field with Brady in 36^th (32:37.28) and Redmond in 42^nd (32:46.17).
 
Christian Giller will head to Sacramento, Calif. to compete in the 2024 NCAA DII Men's Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 23 hosted at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.
