ALLENDALE, Mich. – Junior
Christian Giller of the Florida Southern College men's track team opened the 2024-25 Indoor Track season for the Moccasins as he competed at the GVSU Holiday Open hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. Fresh off his career-best NCAA cross country performance, Giller posted an indoor career-best 5,000m performance Friday night.

The Brandon, Fla. native faced off against a talented field Friday evening including a pair of NCAA Division I runners from the University of Michigan. Giller took seventh overall, edging the top finisher for Michigan by five tenths of a second. Only two runners representing institutions finished ahead of Giller as the other four were unattached. Evan Horgan of Lewis was the top finisher representing a college/university in second while Koby Fraaza of GVSU took third.

Giller completed the 5K in 14:11.29, surpassing his previous indoor best by 22 seconds.

Giller and the rest of the Moccasins will open up the 2025 portion of their schedule Friday, Jan. 17 at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational. Â
