FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's basketball team suffered a tough road loss against No. 16/10 Nova Southeastern this Saturday, playing at NSU's Rick Case Arena with a final score of 57-42.

Sarah Lange led the Moccasins (14-12, 7-12 SSC) breaking into double digits with 11 points scored, followed by
Domenica Zamora and
Dakota Daniello with seven points each.
Sydney Gomes led in the rebounding category with eight defensive rebounds, four of which were in the opening quarter.Â

For the Sharks (22-3, 17-1 SSC), Morgan Kane led the offense with 11 points, followed closely by Zeyno Seren who added 10 of her own. Kane also led in rebounding, pulling down 13 boards for the double-double.Â

The first quarter consisted of a slow start for FSC when NSU's Nicole Scales made a 3-pointer on the opening possession. The Sharks were leading by six before a free throw by Zamora found the net, putting the Mocs on the scoreboard and back in the fight. After a hard-fought first frame, the Mocs managed to even up with the Sharks going into the second period 8-8.

The Mocs came into the second quarter with intensity, scoring the first points with an and-one finish by
Arriyana Bracero, putting Florida Southern up three. The two teams battled back and forth before the Sharks started to pull ahead. Nova Southeastern went into the halftime break with a 26-17 lead. Â

The Sharks came out strong to start the second half, converting from all areas of the floor. FSC went cold from the field, shooting only 20%. NSU capitalized on the offensive end, outscoring the Mocs 20-6 in the quarter. The Sharks would grow their lead to 23 heading into the final period of play.Â

Daniello came off the bench hot in the final period, scoring seven points to record her career high. A fast break layup and 3-point make by Gomes helped set the tone for the Mocs reinvigorated offense. Despite the Sharks lead, the Mocs fought until the end with an impressive 3-pointer from
Reagan White in the final seconds of the game. NSU would pull away to get the win over the Mocs, 57-42.Â

Florida Southern returns home to Jenkins Field House for their senior night game on Wednesday, Feb. 28, facing off with Rollins College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
