Alvarez in the Hunt for Another Title, #10 Mocs in Sixth After Opening Day of Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. – Redshirt senior Adam Alvarez is in the hunt following the first two rounds of the 2024 Bobcat Invitational hosted at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee Monday where No. 10 Florida Southern is in sixth place out of 15 teams on the links.
 
Adam Alvarez is hunting down clubhouse leader Victor Larsson of Lander University as the duo is in the top three, separated by just a stroke. Alvarez carded a 138 (-2) 36-hole score after an opening 68 and a second-round even-par 70 on the par-70 6,701-yard course. The Winter Haven, Fla. native is tied for second and trails Larsson by one (137, -3).  
 
Donte Groppuso is looking to regain composure after firing off a first-round 69 (-1) and following with a second-round 76 (+6) for a 145 (+5) score. Max Barile closed out the Mocs in the top 25 of the 81-player field in 25^th place at 146 (+6) after back-to-back 73's (+3).
 
Max Watson and Tyler Mistretta are searching to crack the top-50 after finishing tied for 56^th and 68^th, respectively, heading into Tuesday's final round. Watson used back-to-back rounds of 75 (+5) to comprise his 150 (+10) score as Mistretta went for 72 (+2) and 80 (+10) for his 152 (+12) score.
 
No. 9 Lander holds a one-stroke advantage over No. 19 West Florida, 569 (+9) to 570 (+10), as the 15 teams return to the links Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. for a shotgun start. Florida Southern turned in the low round of the day of 282 (+2) in round one before a second round of 294 (+14) for a 36-hole score of 576 (+16).
