MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – No. 10 Florida Southern College men's golf closed the book on the regular season with a sixth place finish out of 16 teams at the Battle at the Shores Tuesday at the Normandy Shores Golf Club. The Moccasins saw four of six players in the field finish in the top half of the 93-player field which played on the par-71 6,733-yard course.

No. 10 Florida Southern carded a final round 290 (+6) as a team to finish at 855 (+3) for the tournament after its first two rounds were 284 and 281. No. 13 Nova Southeastern tied for the best round of the day of 280 (-4) to move into first place and win by five strokes with a total 54-hole score of 835 (-17). Alex Heck (Saint Leo) shot his third consecutive round in the 60's to take home medalist honors at 203 (-10) with rounds of 66, 69, and 68 for the event.

The Moccasins saw
Donte Groppuso lead the group, shifting up 26 places over the final 18 holes after carding a final round 68 (-3). The Kingston, N.Y. native finished at even par for the event, shaving strokes off each round. Groppuso opened with a 76 before carding a second round 69 and Tuesday's final round 68. Groppuso's even-par score put him in 24
th place out of the 93 players.

Adam Alvarez carded a four-over 75 Tuesday to finish the event tied for 30
th at 215 (+2) after posting back-to-back rounds of 70 for Monday's rounds. Alvarez finished just ahead of
Max Barile and
Tyler Mistretta who were two-strokes off at 217 (+4). Barile and Mistretta both finished tied for 40
th as Barile shot a final round 74 (+3) and Mistretta a 75 (+4).

Colton Swartz slid to 48
th place after a final round 75 (+4), but finished just shy of the middle of the pack for the event in 48
th place with a 218 (+5) event total.

Max Watson closed the players in the field for Florida Southern as he finished in 54
th place at 219 (+6) after a third-straight 73 (+2).

As a team, the Moccasins made 198 pars, 48 birdies and a field-best six eagles throughout the tournament.
Colton Swartz was the team leader in eagles with three while
Tyler Mistretta led  the pars race with 38 and
Adam Alvarez finished as the leader in birdies with 11. Â

Florida Southern will rest for two weeks before taking on the field at the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Championship in Boca Raton, Fla. at the Osprey Point Golf Club April 21-23.
