PARIS, France – Florida Southern College national champion
Kyle Micallef made his Olympic debut competing in the 50 freestyle this morning part of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Micallef competed in the fifth heat of the 50M prelims and had a 22.89 finish, second-best in his heat. His overall time nearly set a new personal best in long course 50M, a best that set the Malta national record in 22.80 at the 2024 European Championships.

Micallef joined the Moccasins in the 2020-21 season, beginning a decorated four-year career at Florida Southern that culminated in the school's 28
th NCAA Individual National Championship, and first 50 freestyle title for the program at the 2024 NCAA Finals.Â

An NCAA qualifier each of his four years at FSC, Micallef dominated in the sprint events at the institution, conference, and national stage. He finished with several FSC records, 22 All-American honors, four Sunshine State Conference individual championships, and was a three-time All-SSC winner.

One of three Moccasins to compete in the 2024 Olympics, Micallef was joined by former teammate Ludovico Viberti (swimming, Italy) and Dylan Travis (3x3 basketball, USA) in Paris this year.
