HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Florida Southern College women's cross country team traveled to Huntsville, Ala. Friday morning for the Southern Showcase. The Moccasins finished 17
th overall but were second among NCAA Division II programs, only falling to seventh-ranked Lee.
The Mocs finished ahead of several NCAA Division I programs including UAB (18

st), Southern Mississippi (22
nd), Western Kentucky (23
rd), North Alabama (24
th), Alabama State (25
th), Kennesaw State (26
th), Louisiana Monroe (27

Senior
Emma Mussante led the way Friday as she placed 109
th overall while completing the 5K course in 18:25.26. Sophomore
Emma Pfeiffer, who was FSC's fourth finisher a week ago, placed second on the team and was 140
th overall with a time of 18:42.18, nearly 40 seconds better than her previous collegiate best.
Graduate student
Cheyenne Young moved up in the team rankings as well after finishing fifth on the squad last week. Young took third on the team Friday while placing 159
th overall with a time of 18:52.11. Junior
Rachel Hockenberry moved into the scoring five for the first time this season as she took 173
rd overall. Her time of 18:58.21 was nearly a minute better than her previous best. The final member of the scoring five was graduate student
Ellie Fluman who finished just ahead of senior
Mya Stam as the pair went 187
th and 188
th, respectively. Fluman stopped the clock at 19:08.71 while Stam came across in 19:09.20.
Finishing just outside of the top-200 was sophomore
Emma Nales-Torchio who took 201
st overall while clocking in at 19:21.42.

th-ranked Alabama claimed both the team and individual titles Friday morning as Doris Lemngole took the individual title and the Crimson Tide won the meet with 52 points. Rounding out the top three were Louisville (68 pts.) and Georgia Tech (86 pts.).
The Florida Southern women's cross country team will be back in action Friday, Sept. 27 as the Mocs compete at the FSU XC Invite in Tallahassee, Fla. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 8:20 a.m.
