LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Southern College men's swimming team fell one point short in a Sunshine State Conference dual meet against No. 12 Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.

The Moccasins finished the meet with 130.5 team points, just one point behind Nova Southeastern's 131.5 points. A close dual meet through all 28 events, the team victory came down to the final event, the 400 free relay when NSU rallied on the final lap to win the event and meet.

Florida Southern opened the meet with a big relay win in the 200 medley relay as a team of
Brandon Wilson, Janek Barczyk, Nino Viallon, and
Matheus Da Rocha finished at 1:30.23. In the 1000 free, FSC took second and third with
Peter Csicsaky (9:23.25) and
Thomas Wooldridge (9:33.14). The Mocs then repeated second and third in the 200 free with
John Zeiger (1:40.95, 0.01 seconds behind the leader) and
Clyde Crouse (1:42.31).

The Mocs then had a sweep of the podium in the 100 back, led by
Michael Tretyakov in 49.44,
William Eriksson in 49.82, and Wilson in 50.39. Barczyk then had third in the 100 breast with a time of 56.34. In the 200 fly,
Tristan Clanton was second in 1:52.66, and
Cormac McKenney was third with 1:53.98.
Will Neville shined in the 50 free for first place in 20.71, followed by Da Rocha in second in 21.14.

Tretyakov and Neville went back-to-back in the 100 free for first and second, followed by Eriksson and
Corbin Cole in second and third for the 200 back. The top Moc in the 200 breast was
Travis Oleson in third with 2:05.84. In the 500 free, Csicsaky was second with 4:31.53, and Crouse was third with 4:44.83. Viallon then won the 100 fly in 49.72, with Barczyk tied for second with 51.17. In the 400 IM, NSU swept the podium, leaving the meet down to the 400 free relay. A team of Wilson, Neville, Viallon, and Tretyakov was close at the end but lost by one-tenth of a second with a time of 3:00.66.

The Mocs will have their last dual meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 31, against Rollins College at the Wellness Center Pool. A ceremony celebrating our seniors will take place during the meet, which has a 3:00 p.m. start.
