SAINT LEO, Fla. — A strong second round brought the No. 25 Florida Southern women's golf team to second place to open the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Saint Leo, Fla. on Monday afternoon.
Clare Gimpel led the Moccasins, sitting tied-fourth place after two rounds of play. The graduate student shot three-under in the second round to vault up the leaderboard. She carded six birdies on the day, with four on the front nine in round two.
McKinley Holding finished tied-seventh, shooting one-over on day one.Holding shot one-under in the second round to close the day. She carded five birdies on the day.
Freshman, Darby Hancock, finished the opening day tied-13th, shooting three-over. Hancock shot one-under in the second round. She carded four birdies on the day.
Kaley Amuso finished tied 15th, shooting a four-over 148. Amuso carded five birdies on the back nine of the second round. Ava La Belle rounded out the Moccasin lineup, finishing tied-30th.
Florida Southern had four individuals compete in the tournament, with Taylor Zachary and Christina Nordlander finishing tied-40th (12-over) with Nordlander recording an eagle on hole 11 in the second round. Susie Davis finished tied-61st (26-over) and McKinlee Proctor finished tied-64th (30-over).
Anderson leads the tournament at 15-under, with the leader Claudia Hastings sitting at six-under through the first two rounds of play.
