PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Clare Gimpel picked up her first tournament title at the NCAA National Championship Preview, pacing the No. 25 women's golf team to a fourth-place finish on Tuesday afternoon at PGA National.
The graduate student, Gimpel, won her first career tournament with a three-round score of 223 (+7). Gimpel had a hot start to the day, opening with three pars, followed by four consecutive birdies on holes 8-11. She shot one under on the final day, being one of only three players to post an under-par final round.
Ava La Belle was the second of three players to post an under-par round on the day, with the best score of the round at 70. La Belle carded four birdies and finished in the top-10 with a tied-eighth finish.
McKinley Holding finished tied-18th, with a final round of 76. Taylor Zachary vaulted up the leaderboard to tied-24th on the final day, posting an even third round. Zachary carded three birdies in the round. Kaley Amuso rounded out the Moccasins lineup, finishing tied-45th.
UP NEXT
The Moccasins will travel up to Georgia next week to compete in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial next Monday, October 13. The tournament, hosted by North Georgia, will take place at the Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Ga.
