LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College women's soccer head coach
Gerry Lucey has announced the hire of Sammy Kirn as an assistant coach.

"We are delighted to welcome Sammy Kirn and her husband EJ to FSC," said Lucey. "Sammy impressed tremendously during the interview process and has the drive and ambition we are looking for in her position. She has already made a positive impact with the team and we are very excited to bring her onto our staff. As a young coach, she has already been working towards gaining licensing and networking to both build herself and greatly help our program."

Kirn made the move to Lakeland after spending the last two years as a goalkeeper trainer and assistant coach for Lewis University, making the program's first appearance at the conference tournament in the fall of 2023. Prior to her time at Lewis, She was a goalkeeper trainer and assistant coach at Governors State University from June 2022 to June 2023. In 2022, Kirn was the assistant coach for the Chicago Mustangs Summer team and women's United Women's Soccer National Championship under head coach Dino Delevski. She also spent the last seven years as a head coach of numerous youth soccer clubs in Chicago.

Drew Howard [Director of Athletics and Dean of Wellness], my husband and I knew this was a special place. I am super excited to get started and look forward to coaching and supporting the women a part of this program."

As a player, Kirn spent one year at Saint Xavier University before transferring to Olivet Nazarene University. She then played semi-professional soccer for the Ladies Steel City in Joliet, Il., and ranked number one in saves for the summer 2022 season out of 100+ keepers. She has a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Sport, and Fitness Studies, as well as a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on Strategic Leadership.

Kirn is married to EJ Kirn, who is a full-time soccer coach and jointly owns a training business working with goalkeepers and field players from NCAA Division I to youth soccer. They have two cats, Foggy and Stormy, and Kirn enjoys weightlifting, small coffee shops, and hiking in her free time.
