AUSTIN, Texas. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Academic All-America Women's Soccer teams with Florida Southern College's
Ashley Shimberg selected to the Third Team.
Shimberg is the sixth Moccasin, and first since the 2022 season, to be selected Academic All-America. She was recently announced to the D2 CCA All-South Second Team, the eighth Moc in program history to earn the D2CCA/Daktronics All-South award.
The All-SSC First Team winner and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree had an incredible year with the Mocs. Shimberg had 11 goals, tied for the most in the SSC in the regular season, and the most goals by a Moc since 2010. Adding one assist, Shimberg finished 2024 with 23 points after starting 16 games this season. A graduate student from Tampa, Fla., the star forward also had 49 shots (the most since 2013) and a stellar 29 shots on goal (the most since 2010). Shimberg's only year with FSC was highlighted by a hat trick to beat then No. 25-ranked Embry-Riddle on the road for the first road win over ERAU since 1998. She was selected as the SSC Player of the Week two times in 2024.
