ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's track team opened up action at the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Central Florida Friday night. The Moccasins competed in three events while earning three top-10 all-time marks for the program. Â

TOP PERFORMERS
- The opening event of the night for FSC featured the most Moccasins as seven toed the line for the 1,500m. Junior Caitlin Beery continued her standout season as she led the way for FSC finishing in 34th against a strong field featuring mostly NCAA Division I competition. Beery crossed the line in 4:46.29 to earn the seventh-best time in program history. Senior Emma Mussante came in just behind Beery in 35th while stopping the clock at 4:46.37 for the eighth fastest time in FSC history. Mussante now holds six of the top-10 all-time marks in the 1,500m at FSC. Finishing seven spots back from Mussante was sophomore Grace Reed who clocked in at 4:49.42 while taking 42nd. Just two seconds later, junior Rachel Hockenberry came across in 45th while earning a time of 4:51.80. The final three Moccasin finishers were graduate student Ellie Fluman (50th, 4:53.26), senior Mya Stam (57th, 4:57.39) and graduate student Jinia Johnson (69th, 5:20.00).
- Three Mocs saw action in the 5,000m as freshman Alena Pezzoli led the way with a top-15 finish. Pezzoli took 14th overall and was the fourth NCAA Division II runner to cross the line at 18:16.87. Fellow freshmen Heloise Pinto and Katrina Machado finished 25th and 26th, respectively. Pinto stopped the clock at 18:51.25 while Machado crossed the line in 18:54.80.
- The final two FSC runners on the track were sophomore Emma Pfeiffer and freshman Kira Casane as they competed in the longest race of the track season, the 10,000m. Pfeiffer posted the 10th-best time in program history while taking sixth overall at 38:17.98. Casane came in three spots back in ninth at 40:19.44. The pair represented the only two top-10 finishes of the night for the Mocs.
