NEW ORLEANS – Senior
Emma Mussante of the Florida Southern College women's track team was recently named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Region in both the 5,000m and 10,000m. This marks the second and third All-Region honors in outdoor track for Mussante while it ranks as her fourth and fifth all-time when adding in her two cross country All-South Region honors.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Mussante set school records in both the 5,000m and 10,000m during the 2025 outdoor season. Her top performance in the 5K came at the Tampa Spartans Open back on February 22 where she became the first Moccasin in program history to run a sub-17 minute 5K. She posted a time of 16:57.11 which ranked third in the region. Ana Patricia Campos of Lee holds the top time of 16:38.37 ran at the final regular season meet of the year. Mussante's school record time of 36:00.69 in the 10K ranked fourth in the region while Campos once again held the top spot at 34:25.64.
The Middleburg, Fla. native becomes just the second Moccasin all-time to earn All-Region honors in two events during one season joining
Hannah Flemming (2018-21) who earned honors in the 1,500m and 5,000m following the 2019 season. Mussante also becomes the all-time leader in program history in All-South Region honors with three surpassing Flemming for the program record.
