LAKELAND, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its first computerized rankings of the 2025 season, with Florida Southern College's
Sam Frizelle ranked No. 41 among DII players.
Â
The Moccasins, who rank No. 21 in this week's poll, previously had
Mario Garoz ranked after the fall tournament season in the top 50 of athletes, and now Frizelle is making his mark for FSC as the #1 court player in singles.
Â
Frizelle has a 5-3 record to start 2025, all at the #1 court, facing some of the toughest competition in DII. He has a 3-0 record in conference play and has faced three players who are nationally ranked, each of his three losses. A junior from Lutz, Fla., Frizelle beat then-unranked/now No. 12 Vincent Thiel to start the season in two sets and had a win streak of four matches before losing his last two matches against top 50 players. Frizelle also has a 3-3 record in singles, teamed with
Ryan Rajakar, George Russell, and
Onur Turgut in his appearances. He has won the past two matches paired with Russell at the #3 court.
Â
The Mocs will remain at home to face St. Mary's University this Sunday, March 9, with a noon start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
