McCORMICK, S.C. – Florida Southern College women's golf sits in a tie for third place after the opening day of the Savannah Lakes Women's Fall Invitational at Monticello Golf Club.
The Moccasins carded rounds of 296 and 297 for a 593 total, matching Lander for third on the team leaderboard. Top-ranked Lee University leads the field at 578, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne at 590.
Sophomore Ava La Belle paced Florida Southern with a 1-under 143, highlighted by a career-low 2-under 70 in the second round, to finish the day tied for fifth individually. Clare Gimpel followed closely in a tie for ninth at 147, while freshman Darby Hancock (152, T29), Taylor Zachary (153, T35) and Kaley Amuso (155, T41) rounded out the team scoring.
Two Moccasins competed as individuals. Christina Nordlander is tied for 13th at 148 after opening with a 73, while McKinley Holding sits tied for 17th with a 149.
