TAMPA, Fla. — Florida Southern College women's track showcased strong performances at the Tampa Spartans Open to open the 2026 outdoor track season, highlighted by junior
Grace Reed's first-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:33.44. Reed's remarkable performance set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 4:42.40 set by
Hannah Fleming in 2019. In the 5000m, senior
Rachel Hockenberry secured a podium finish, clocking in at 17:50.51 for third place.
Middle Distance Â
Reed secured a first-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:33.44, breaking the longstanding school record. Senior
Caitlin Beery placed fifth in the same event, posting a time of 4:48.67.
Distance Â
In the 5000m, Hockenberry achieved third place with a time of 17:50.51. Freshman
Reagan Chambless and sophomore
Heloise Pinto also performed well, finishing sixth and eighth with times of 18:04.96 and 18:17.01, respectively.
FSC's relay team, consisting of Beery, Gividen, junior
Kira Mothershed, and freshman
Jane Haight, finished fifth in the 4x400m with a time of 4:18.03. This performance earned them the distinction of setting the sixth fastest time in program history.
