ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The No. 10/10 Florida Southern Women's golf team opened the spring slate tied-fifth on day one of the World Golf Invitational at the Slammer and Squire Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Clare Gimpel led the Moccasins, sitting tied-15th after two rounds of play. The graduate student shot 5-over through two rounds of play. She carded five birdies on the day. Gimpel had the Mocs lowest single round of the day in round two with a 73.
Ava La Belle finished the day tied-25th, shooting 7-over. La Belle led the Mocs in round one, shooting a 75. She carded three birdies in the round.
McKinley Holding finished tied-28th, one stroke off La Belle, while Kaley Amuso finished tied-31st, one stroke off Holding.
Taylor Zachary rounded out the Moccasin lineup, finishing day one in 86th place.
The host team, Flagler, leads the tournament at 8-over. Melissa Ball (Eckerd) leads the field with a two-round score of 141 (3-under).
