LAKELAND, Fla. — Florida Southern women's tennis (7-2) defeated Thomas Jefferson University (2-6) 6-1 on Thursday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. Florida Southern secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and won five of the six singles matches.

Kennedi Brown and
Josie Holderbach delivered a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Anouk Oderkerk and Alycia Veroux.
Emily Jennewein and
Ronja Scheuermann followed with a 6-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Sophia Babar and Emily Frost. The match at No. 3 doubles was left unfinished with
Annika Berrendorf and
Jolie Miller leading 5-3 against Marely Alvarado and Madina Omarova.
In singles, Florida Southern extended its lead with a sweep of the first five matches to finish. Brown initiated the run with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Alvarado at No. 5 singles. Miller added a point at No. 3 singles, defeating Omarova 6-4, 6-3. #56 Jennewein clinched with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Veroux at No. 2 singles.
Diana Volkov continued the momentum, overcoming Marta Vazquez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Jefferson University picked up its only singles point at No. 1 singles where #45 Oderkerk edged #38 Holderbach in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. The Mocs closed the match with
Elona Simonov's win at No. 6 singles, prevailing 6-1, 7-5 against Rose Huang.
Brown recorded a victory at No. 5 singles and contributed to a No. 1 doubles win. Jennewein posted a win at No. 2 singles and was part of the winning No. 2 doubles team. Miller finished with a win at No. 3 singles and participated in a tied result at No. 3 doubles. Volkov added a win at No. 4 singles.
