Mocs Headed to the Dance: Florida Southern Earns No. 7 Seed in NCAA South Regional at University of Alabama in Huntsville

The Florida Southern women's basketball team will compete in the NCAA Tournament.

The Moccasins were selected as the No. 7 seed in the upcoming NCAA South Region Championship, which will be held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The Moccasins are making their first appearance under head coach Megan Dzikas '12 in the NCAA tournament and will open play against No. 2 Union University (TN).

The last time FSC made an appearance in the NCAA Regional was in the 2021-22 season as the fourth-seed, where they traveled to Jackson, Tenn., to face Eckerd in the opening round, falling to the fifth-seed Tritons 69-94.

This will be Florida Southern's 19th trip in program history to the NCAA postseason.

The Mocs are one of four Sunshine State Conference programs represented in this year's regional, with a record of 12-17 all-time in NCAA postseason play, which includes two NCAA Division II regional championships: the first in 1995 and the most recent in 2016. The Mocs hold a record of 8-7 in first-round games and 12-15 overall in regional competition.

Five of the eight seeds in the 2025-26 South Regional are repeat teams from the 2025 tournament, with No. 1 Alabama-Huntsville and No. 2 Union swapping seeds. Miles moved up to the fourth-seed and Embry-Riddle sits at six and Nova Southeastern at five.
